Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum Meeting Announcement CIO Roundtable: Enterprise Architecture Thursday, December 18, 2008 Location: Towson University Please join CIO members and guests at the December 18 meeting of the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum. The focus of the meeting is Enterprise Architecture. What are successful strategies for building an enterprise architecture that is cost effective, regulation compliant and meets business needs? What are practical constructs that enable IT to meet current and future needs of the organization? What are strategies and frameworks to address issues surrounding enterprise architecture such as technology emergence, governance, management of infrastructure, performance management, standardization and process development? Does enterprise architecture enable or constrain? The meeting will begin with a presentation, “Enterprise Architecture – A Practical Approach”, by Mark Salser, Senior Vice President of the Enterprise Solutions Group at Oracle Corporation. Mr. Salser will explore the various definitions and frameworks for enterprise architectures with an eye towards a practical application of these methods to create business value. This presentation emphasizes the critical path to defining comprehensive enterprise architecture standards and implementing enterprise solutions using a prescribed architecture and approach, while avoiding detailing every aspect of target enterprise architecture. Customer examples as well as Oracle’s own enterprise architecture story are used to illustrate this approach. Understandings, experiences and frameworks in enterprise architecture are wide and varied. The meeting will then open to a roundtable discussion on Enterprise Architecture to explore the depth and breadth of participants' knowledge and questions on this topic. The roundtable meeting is restricted to CIO members and guest CIOs. All participants will have signed a non-disclosure agreement. This is a unique and rare opportunity for CIOs to share knowledge and discuss critical topics in a CIO friendly, confidential environment. The meeting starts at 8:00 AM. Brunch and lunch are provided. The meeting runs until 1:00 PM. Pre-registration is required. Meeting logistics will be emailed to you after you register. Please join us for this meeting.
