The Forum provides an environment committed to fostering excellence in business and information technology. It is a non-profit organization founded by CIO's for CIO's. Join us on Thursday, April 20 at 8:00 AM for presentations and discussions on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). RFID is an intrinsic force in a significant transformation that is occurring in the global supply chain. While large corporations have been early innovators, more and more companies are starting to venture into RFID. Hear how early implementations are doing. Wal-Mart, Inc. is a leader in the revolution of use of RFID in supply chain management. "More than 300 suppliers are already shipping RFID-tagged pallets and cases to Wal-Mart's RFID-ready distribution centers and stores in the Dallas area. Hundreds of others are now scaling the RFID technology-evaluation-to-implementation learning curve to meet Wal-Mart's next milestones. Get an insider's perspective on the progress Wal-Mart is making, implementing its RFID strategy, and find out where Wal-Mart's next RFID steps will take you." (C. Walton, 3/2006) Carolyn Walton, Vice President - Information Systems, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. will speak on "Enabling the Real Time Supply Chain Through The Use of RFID". She will address how to improve on shelf availability by the use of a standards based, RFID approach. It is three short years since Wal-Mart invited its top suppliers to join them to use RFID. Carolyn Walton will share how Wal-Mart was able to take the technology from the 'lab' to the real world and deliver positive impacts, including, reducing Out of Stocks. Discover how Wal-Mart worked closely with its suppliers to ensure RFID in the supply chain become a reality. Learn how Wal-Mart intends to use the technology in the future and ways in which its suppliers are gaining a competitive advantage. Brian Millsap, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Hampton Products International Corporation, will discuss the successful experience with RFID by Hampton Products. Learn how a company which chose to be an early adopter approached the implementation of RFID into its business. Hear what they learned in executing their approach and implementation. Mr. Millsap will provide a demonstration of improved efficiencies in supply chain management. Through an exercise in RFID data analysis he will discuss the realization of return on investment in the implementation of RFID. The meeting starts at 8:00 AM and is held on campus at Towson University. Brunch and lunch are provided. The meeting runs until noon, with lunch following. Participation is by invitation only. Pre-registration is required. Meeting logistics will be emailed to you after you register. We would love to have you participate.
