IT Organizational Structure: OD and Governance
CIO Roundtable
Thu 09/21/2006

The location for this particular meeting has been relocated to the Burkshire Marriott Conference Hotel located near Towson University at 10 West Burke Avenue, Towson, MD 21204.

Please plan to join CIO members and CIO guests at the first meeting of the Forum in our fourth year. The topic for this meeting is "Information Technology Organizational Structure: OD and Governance". Hear how IT organizations are organizing and evolving, some to non-traditional structures, in the face of changing and challenging business needs. Learn some practical approaches in governance, metrics, and more in IT's effort to provide service and meet business requirements. How does one manage delivery, relationships and resources in the IT organization of the future? This is a great opportunity to get to know other CIOs better and for all to share knowledge and raise questions to the group at large.

The format for this meeting is a CIO Roundtable. The meeting will have two parts. In the first half, Bill Kirwin, Vice President and Research Director, Gartner, will provide insight and analysis into IT organizations looking at the 'real' practices and trends Gartner is seeing. As Bill states, "The future of the IT organization will likely be determined by the incredible tension between the needs of an enterprise and the IT capability to deliver against these requirements. Tight budgets, skill shortages and other resource limitations are both imposed by the enterprise and abhorred by the enterprise. The need for IT to respond organizationally to rapidly changing business needs has existed for many years and has reached a critical level as IT becomes the business process and IT is faced with becoming a strategic change agent or a utility. In this presentation we will explore the possible resolutions of this tension."

The second part of the meeting consists of discussions among the CIOs in a roundtable arrangement. All participants will have signed a non-disclosure agreement. The roundtable discussion will center on the opportunity to bring up issues members are struggling with in this topical area and/or share experiences and lessons learned. Several of our CIO members will have prepared facilitated discussions and will share their experiences on this topic. All participants will have an opportunity to contribute to this discussion.

Please join our members at the meeting! The meeting starts at 8:00 AM and ends by 1PM. Brunch and lunch are provided. Pre-registration is required. Meeting logistics including agenda, directions to the meeting place and parking information will be emailed to you after you register.
